Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston seeks a Histotechnician/Histotechnologist to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic analysis. You will process, embed, section, and mount slides while maintaining quality control and a precise chain of custody for specimens.

Required is a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 0-1 year of clinical or histology experience; HT(ASCP) certifications preferred. The role is onsite at 243-245 Charles Street with a 40-hour workweek and day shift.

Qualifications

• Must possess fundamental knowledge of fixation, decalcification, processing, embedding, and routine staining.
• Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Processes, embeds, and sections tissue for slides.
• Embeds control tissue and maintains a control library.
• Performs preventative maintenance and quality control procedures on microtomes and processors.
• Ensures appropriate use of PPE to maintain employee safety.
• Maintains case identification and tracking throughout the process to ensure patient safety.
• Follows hospital policies and keeps a safe, prepared work area.
