Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking a skilled Histotechnologist to perform complex immunohistochemical and histological procedures. You will prioritize testing, maintain accurate records, and coordinate training for students, residents, and fellows.

The role requires HT (ASCP) or equivalent along with an Associate's degree and at least four years of histology experience. The position emphasizes compliance with CAP and CLIA, high-quality work, and timely delivery to the surgical pathology

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in science related field required.
• Minimum 4 years clinical or research histology experience, or HT (ASCP) certification at time of hire.
• HT (ASCP), HTL (ASCP), MT (ASCP) or QIHC certification should be obtained within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform microtomy for routine H&E stains, frozen sections, special stains, IF, neuromuscular, Mohs, and IHC testing.
• Perform special stains, IHC, IF, neuromuscular and various manual stains.
• Embed tissue into paraffin blocks and orient multiple sections on the same plane.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and replace supplies before expiration.
• Ensure CAP checklist compliance and adherence to CLIA/CAP regulations.
• Collaborate with team to meet turnaround times and support surgical pathology.
