Job description

Histotechnologist I

Pride Health is hiring a Histotechnologist I to support a medical facility in Pompano Beach, FL. This is a 2‑3 month contract (possible extension or conversion) opportunity.

Position Details

Pay Rate: $42 – $55 per hour
Duration: 2‑3 months (contract with possible extension)
Shift: 10:00 PM – 8:30 AM (morning shift also available)

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and process tissue specimens for microscopic evaluation following lab protocols.
• Embed tissue in paraffin, perform microtomy, and prepare slides for H&E and special stains.
• Conduct special staining and IHC procedures, including reagent preparation and validation.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, document maintenance and corrective actions.
• Accession, label, and file tissue samples, blocks, and slides accurately.
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and laboratory quality control standards.
• Train and mentor junior histotechnicians and lab staff.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Skills & Qualifications

• Proficient in tissue embedding, microtomy, staining (H&E, special stains, IHC).
• Strong knowledge of laboratory safety, QC/QA procedures, and compliance standards.
• Skilled in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Excellent organizational and documentation abilities.
• Education: BS in related field.
• Certification: ASCP (HT or HTL) required.
