Pride Health is seeking a Technical Lab Histotechnologist to support our client’s healthcare team in White Plains, NY.

The role is a local contract with a 3+ month length, schedule 7:00 PM-3:30 AM (Mon-Fri, flexible). Pay rate ranges from $42 to $55 per hour depending on experience, with local contract terms.

Responsibilities

• Prepare slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists.
• Accessioning and labeling tissue samples; process paperwork.
• Process tissue through embedding, sectioning, and staining workflows.
• Perform IHC testing and special stain procedures as needed.
• Train and guide Histotechnicians, students and lab aides.
• Maintain quality control and comply with CLIA/CAP regulations.

Contract Length: 3+ months

Duties:

• Perform routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s), according to policies and procedures.
• Capable of performing all of the duties/responsibilities of a Histotechnician I and II.
• Ensure proper accessioning and labeling of all tissue samples. Process paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting.
• Ensure proper tissue processing. Embed processed tissue in paraffin. Perform microtomy of embedded tissue.
• Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining. Perform coverslipping of stained slides either manually or automated.
• Prepare solutions and reagents for special stain procedures. Obtain and validate tissue used in special stains.
• Perform all special stain procedures.
• May prepare solutions and reagents for IHC procedures. May obtain and validate control material used in IHC procedures. May perform IHC testing.
• Perform filing of finished blocks and slides. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and troubleshoot minor equipment failures.
• Document remedial actions such as repairs or repeated tests.
• Provide training and guidance to Histotechnicians, students and lab aides.
• Adhere to laboratoryýýs quality control policies and document all quality control activities.
• Ensure all corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met. Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized work area. Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

• histotechnician/histology laboratory experience required.
• ASCP HT certification required.
• Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in an applicable laboratory science or related field, as required by the employer and applicable regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience performing both routine and non-routine histology procedures.
• Experience comparable to Histotechnician I and II responsibilities.
• IHC experience.
• Experience with automated staining and coverslipping systems.
• Experience in a CAP/CLIA-regulated pathology laboratory.
• Must have a NYS License
