Job summary

US Digestive Health is seeking a Histotechnologist for their location in Exton, Pennsylvania. This role involves performing routine and complex histologic techniques to assist pathologists in diagnosing diseases.

Candidates must have at least 3 years of histology bench experience and relevant certifications. The successful applicant should demonstrate strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of histology bench experience performing high complexity testing minimum.
  • 3 years of histology bench experience performing high complexity testing and ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of the technical assistant as necessary, including accessioning.
  • Gross patient tissue according to protocol.
  • Carefully and efficiently embed tissue according to protocol.
  • Produce diagnostically optimal sections at an acceptable rate.
  • Perform routine and special stains.
  • Perform Immunohistochemistry procedures.
  • Perform routine and high complexity testing.
  • File paraffin blocks.
  • Alert lead tech and supervisor of low inventory of supplies and reagents.
  • Perform and document maintenance on equipment.
  • Help troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Document quality issues.
  • Communicate problems effectively.
  • Read and follow all policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities.
  • Read emails and respond accordingly.
  • Engage with everyone in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by assisting others when possible.
  • Perform other duties when assigned.
  • Evaluate test controls and help troubleshoot problems.
  • Help maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Job Description

Performs both routine and complex histologic techniques such as enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, and immunofluorescence on tissue samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist to diagnose disease. Must be knowledgeable in the areas of pathology, management, education, and regulations that impact the field of histotechnology.
