Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a skilled histology technician to support tissue preparation for pathological and research examinations. You will perform embedding, microtomy, staining, and quality checks per established protocols, with attention to safety and accuracy.

This role involves handling patient-related samples and maintaining detailed records in the laboratory information system. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and completion of an on-the-job histology

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of an on-the-job histology training program is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs embedding and microtomy (paraffin and frozen sections) per protocols.
• Selects, performs, and monitors staining procedures and evaluates reagents and controls.
• Records specimens entering the laboratory and tracks handling and labeling.
• Operates and maintains lab equipment (refrigerators, water baths, ovens, cryostats) per guidelines.
• Duties may include direct patient interaction or handling human-subjects data.
