Job summary

Altasciences in Columbia, MO is seeking a Histology Technician/Histology Technologist at all levels to prepare and process samples for scientific research. You will learn hands-on skills like tissue slicing and staining, maintaining lab equipment, and organizing supplies in a clean, safe environment. Minimal experience?

We offer training to start a career in science and lab work. What you'll do includes trimming, embedding orientation, microtomy, H&E staining, and slide preparation per SOPs.

Qualifications

• Associates degree specializing in science preferred.
• 1+ year laboratory experience and/or training.
• HT (ASCP) eligible within one year of employment.
• Basic computer software skills, MS Office Suite required.
• Proficiency in English including speaking, reading, and writing.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and documents the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Maintains a safe, clean and orderly laboratory environment.
• Perform trimming of fixed tissues.
• Performs paraffin tissue processing and embedding orientation.
• Uses microtomy to prepare routine slides per SOPs/protocols.
• Performs H&E staining and coverslipping of slides.
• Troubleshoots equipment and maintains workflow with minimal interruption.
• Disposes hazardous chemicals and maintains records.
• Orders warehouse supplies and updates inventory records.
• Participates in additional training for tissue trimming and bone decalcification.
