Job summary

Mymlc is seeking a Histotechnician (non-certified) to work under supervision to prepare cytology and pathology slides for examination by pathologists. The role includes record-keeping, monitoring supplies, and ensuring quality control in a dedicated on-site laboratory in Saint Joseph, MO.

The candidate will embed and section tissues, manage blocks and slides, and handle specimen preparation while maintaining accurate patient data and department records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 12 hours of Biology and Chemistry coursework within the past 8 years.
• 1 year of laboratory experience required.
• 2 years histology clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Histotechnician HT or Histotechnologist HTL certification or training timelines are expected.

Responsibilities

• Embed, section, make cassettes and label tissues for examination by Pathologist.
• Enter patient information and charges in computer systems.
• Prepare and maintain cytology/pathology blocks, slides, stains, and reagents.
• Inventory, order, stock supplies for the area and frozen section room.
• Maintain area cleanliness and organization.
• Prepare specimens for send out and manage hotlines or calls.
