Job summary

UW Health in Madison is seeking a Histology Technician – Surgical Pathology to support tissue preparation for microscopic analysis. You will gross and dissect biopsy specimens, embed tissue in paraffin, perform microtomy, and apply staining techniques on glass slides.

The role involves basic instrument maintenance, reagent monitoring, inventory control, and collaboration with pathologists, residents, and staff across departments.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology.
• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related field preferred.
• Previous laboratory experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination by grossing, embedding, and sectioning.
• Maintain instruments, monitor reagents, and ensure quality control of tests.
• Interact with pathologists and staff to ensure accurate results.
