Job summary

UW Health in Madison seeks a Histology Technician - Surgical Pathology to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic analysis by grossing, embedding in paraffin, and performing microtomy with staining. You will maintain instruments, monitor reagents, and ensure quality control of procedures.

Daily collaboration with pathologists and staff supports accurate diagnoses. Requirements include an Associate's degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology; a Bachelor's degree is preferred;

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology or equivalent.
• Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science preferred.
• Histotechnician/Histotechnologist certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissue samples for examination by grossing, embedding in paraffin, and performing microtomy with staining on slides.
• Conduct basic instrument maintenance, monitor reagents, ensure quality control of test performance, and manage supplies.
• Interact daily with pathologists, residents, and intradepartmental staff to support diagnostic workflows.
