Job summary

Trinity Health's Anatomic Pathology Lab in Ann Arbor processes over 75,000 cases annually and operates 24/7 with on-site IHC and Molecular labs. The Histotech will perform histology procedures, including frozen section prep, immunostaining, and quality control under the supervision of Pathologists.

The lab is CAP, JCAHO accredited and CLIA-certified. Qualified candidates will have an associate degree and NAACLS histology training; HT/HTL ASCP is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Science or Applied Science and completion of an accredited histotechnology program.
• May consider two years histology work experience with an Associate degree in Science or a High School Diploma plus NAACLS histology program.
• Current HT or HTL ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify accuracy of patient information and samples submitted for examination.
• Accessioning and billing of cytology and surgical specimens; enter data into LIS.
• Perform tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, H&E staining and coverslipping.
• Perform immunohistochemical and special staining procedures as requested by Pathologist.
• Prepare frozen section slides with rapid H&E staining; ensure quality control.
