Job summary

Edward-Elmhurst Health is seeking a Histology Technician for a per diem role at Evanston Hospital. The position requires handling tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, recuts, and special stains, including cryotomy of skin specimens.

Training includes a histology program with an HT/HTL credential or eligibility, and typically 1 year of histology experience is preferred. The role offers per diem hours, with schedule Monday–Friday 5am–1:30pm and rotating weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science with Histology training.
• HT/HTL Certificate (ASCP) or eligible.
• 1 year histology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process tissues using Xpress microwave rapid tissue processor.
• Embed tissues manually and with Sakura Auto TEK embedder.
• Perform manual and automated microtomy of paraffin blocks.
• Perform recuts of tissue blocks.
• Perform special stains.
• Cryotomy of skin specimens.
