Job summary

Endeavor Health, Evanston Hospital, seeks a Histology Technician for per diem coverage. Workdays are Monday to Friday, 5am–1:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays. Per diems enjoy premium pay and incentive options depending on shift and role.

The role involves processing tissues with Xpress microwave systems, embedding, microtomy, recuts, and special stains. Requires histology education and HT/HTL eligibility with 1 year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Laboratory Science with histology training.
• ASCP HT/HTL certification or eligible.
• 1 year histology lab experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process tissues using Xpress microwave rapid tissue processor.
• Embed tissues manually and with Sakura Auto TEK embedder.
• Microtomy of paraffin-embedded tissue blocks (manual & automated).
• Recuts of tissue blocks as needed.
• Perform special stains and cryotomy of skin specimens.
