Job summary
Endeavor Health in Evanston, IL is seeking a Histology Technician to join our full-time pathology team. The role involves processing tissues with the Xpress microwave rapid tissue processor, embedding with manual and Sakura Auto TEK embedder, and performing microtomy on paraffin blocks.
You will also handle recuts and special stains, contributing to accurate diagnostics. Required education includes an AS or BS in Laboratory Science with histology training, HT/HTL ASCP certification or eligible,
Qualifications
- Education: AS or BS in Laboratory Science with histology training.
- HT/HTL ASCP certification or eligible.
- At least 1 year histology experience preferred.
- Ability to perform manual embedding and microtomy of paraffin-embedded tissue blocks.
Responsibilities
- Process tissues using Xpress microwave rapid tissue processor.
- Embed tissues manually and with Sakura Auto TEK embedder.
- Perform microtomy of paraffin blocks (manual and automated).
- Run recuts of tissue blocks.
- Perform special stains.
- Perform IF cryotomy of skin specimens.
