Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Histology Technician to prepare and stain tissue specimens for microscopic examination, under the supervision of a Pathologist. The role requires handling high complexity histology procedures and ensuring high-quality diagnostic throughput.

The ideal candidate will have NAACLS HT/HTL credentials, at least 1 year of lab experience, and strong interpersonal and analytical skills. The position is hourly with competitive total rewards and sign-on bonus eligibility.

Qualifications

• HS/GED with biology and chemistry coursework or grandfathered HT certification prior to 2005.
• NAACLS accredited HT or HTL program or grandfathered HT certification prior to 2005.
• 1 year of laboratory experience.
• Certification as Histotechnician HT(ASCP) or Histotechnologist HTL(ASCP) or eligibility to test within 1 year of hire.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; solid computer skills; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and stain tissue specimens for microscopic examination.
• Perform high complexity histology procedures with independent technical assessment.
• Lead optimization and validation of new laboratory equipment.
• Participate in onsite histology School activities and training for students.
