Job summary

CVMC is seeking a supervisor for the histology laboratory. The role includes supervising staff, training new personnel, and evaluating performance in the lead area.

You will develop procedures, evaluate new equipment and reagents, and troubleshoot instrument problems while ensuring quality control and accurate slide reviews with the Pathologist. Relocation package available for qualified applicants.

Qualifications

• 5 years of histology experience.
• HT/HTL/MLS ASCP eligibility and training.
• Strong leadership and QA skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise histology lab staff and administrative assistants.
• Train new personnel and conduct performance evaluations.
• Develop new procedures and evaluate equipment/reagents.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for the supervision of the histology laboratory and administrative assistant personnel. Responsible for training new personnel. Responsible for performance evaluations in lead area. Responsible for development of new procedures and evaluation of new equipment and reagents. Recognizes abnormal results, troubleshoots instrument problems and recognizes quality control problems. Routinely reviews slides with Pathologist. Duties also include logging in, labeling and processing specimens, embedding, paraffin microtomy, cryostat microtomy, non-gynecological specimen processing, staining of slides, performing special stains and performing gross description of small biopsies according to protocol.

EDUCATION:

• 1. Associates Degree, HT (ASCP) or eligible.
• 2. Bachelors Degree, HTL (ASCP) or eligible.
• 3. MLS (ASCP) with successful completion of Histotechnology training course and HTL (ASCP) certification within two years of hire.
