Job summary

Five Star Nursing is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our pathology team. You will prepare tissue specimens, perform embedding, microtomy, freezing, and staining while ensuring quality and accuracy.

In this role, you will maintain LIS/EMR documentation, assist pathologists, manage supplies, and uphold safety standards in a hospital-like setting. Day shifts; competitive compensation and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Histotechnology or related field is required.
• Certification HT/HTL is preferred or achievable.
• Minimum 2 years of histology experience in hospital or clinical lab.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical, biopsy, and autopsy tissue specimens per protocols.
• Embed, microtomy, frozen sections, and routine/special staining.
• Maintain and troubleshoot histology equipment.
• Ensure specimen labeling and documentation throughout testing.
• Perform quality control to meet standards.
• Assist pathologists with tissue prep and special requests.
• Manage inventory of supplies and reagents.
• Follow safety and hazardous material handling protocols.
• Participate in proficiency testing and QA initiatives.
• Collaborate with pathologists and staff to maintain workflow.
