Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center is seeking a Histotechnician to join our Histology Team. You will perform routine and non-routine preparation of slides for pathologists, maintain specimen accessioning, and support quality control in a fast-paced environment.

This role requires tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining preparation, while adhering to CLIA and CAP regulations. Day shift, 40 hours per week (6a–2:30p).

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program.
• Or 60 semester hours biology/chemistry with an associate degree and related histology experience.
• ASCP HT certification or eligibility within one year of employment.
• 1 year histology laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists.
• Ensure proper accessioning and labeling of tissue samples.
• Embed tissue in paraffin and perform microtomy.
• Prepare slides for H&E staining and coverslipping.
• Maintain equipment and document QC actions.
• Comply with CLIA, CAP and safety standards.
