Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville is seeking a Team Lead for Histology to oversee daily tissue processing, embedding, sections, and staining. You will ensure accurate diagnosis support, quality control, and documentation in a fast-paced lab.

The role requires a histology/biology degree with lab experience; HT/ASCP certification preferred. Competitive compensation and benefits accompany a full-time schedule on site, 11:00am to 7:30pm, with opportunities for growth and training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in histology or biology with minimum 2 years laboratory experience; or Associate of Science degree in histology or biology with minimum 4 years laboratory experience.
• Florida CLT Supervisor license is preferred.
• HT or HTL (ASCP) certification preferred; experience in test development and immunohistochemistry.

Responsibilities

• Process, embed, and microtomy of surgical tissues and perform frozen section staining.
• Carry out routine H&E and special stains (e.g., immunohistochemistry) and other operations in histology.
• Maintain documentation, QC, and participate in QA and equipment testing; assist in protocol development.
• Help train new personnel and, in the absence of the supervisor, oversee daily histology operations.
• Ensure safe handling of chemicals and reagents and manage workload distribution.
