Job summary

Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate:$38.48 - $50.01 / hour

Summary

Responsible for technical supervision, coordination, and day-to-day technical oversight of Histology services within assigned Lee Health operations. Provides direct technical leadership to Histology staff and serves as the primary technical resource for histologic processes, procedures, instrumentation, quality control, competency, troubleshooting, and regulatory compliance.

Works closely with the Regional Anatomical Pathology Lab Manager, pathologists, laboratory leadership, and Histology staff to implement and maintain standardized technical policies, procedures, workflows, quality initiatives, and best practices.

Ensures Histology technical processes consistently meet established standards for specimen integrity, quality, turnaround time, patient safety, productivity, and regulatory compliance. Provides technical oversight of tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, routine staining, special staining, immunohistochemistry, and other assigned Histology procedures.

Requirements

Education: Associates degree in Histotechnology, Biological Sciences, or a related field required. Bachelors or masters degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum of three years of progressive laboratory leadership experience, including supervisory or management experience in Anatomical Pathology required. Multi-site or regional leadership experience preferred.

Certification: Histotechnician (HT) or Scientist in Histotechnology (HTL) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required.

License: Current State of Florida Department of Health laboratory supervisory license appropriate to the individuals discipline and assigned scope of responsibility required.

Requires strong analytical, financial, organizational, change management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead standardized operations across multiple facilities and competing priorities.
