This role performs specimen pick‑up, logging, filing, and preparation for referrals, while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• Registration and clerical duties experience.
• Experience with specimen processing workflows is preferred.
• Ability to handle confidential information and follow privacy rules.

Responsibilities

• Pick-up specimens from OR, Decontamination, and Endo; monitor requisitions.
• Enter specimens into the Logbook and organize efficiently.
• Ensure all tools are available and clean; stock supplies.
• Ensure requests are in numerical order.
• Complete slide and block filing.
• Store and discard specimens properly.
• Prepare and log for afternoon pick up.
• Clean gross area and prep for next day.
• Answer phones and take accurate messages.
• Use Meditech to pull reports and results.
• Attend monthly Pathologist Department and Lab Staff meetings.
• Interact professionally with team members.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Communicate medical information clearly to staff.
• Assist in communication to customers, floors, physicians as needed.
• Requires 2+ years in registration, clerical duties, and specimen processing duties.
• Follow safety policies and procedures.
• Protect sensitive information per Privacy & Security rules.
• Adhere to company policies on security.
• Complete required trainings annually.
• Available to work during disasters.
