Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health in Lima is seeking a Lab Histology - Cytology Assistant to support pathology operations at the Lima Medical Office Building. Under supervision of Histology and Cytology techs, you will prepare specimens, register orders, verify acceptability, and perform pre-analytical and analytical tasks, including phlebotomy and specimen collection.

Responsibilities include maintaining inventory, stocking, performing waived testing, and slide preparation, with opportunities to assist

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in biology/chemistry preferred.
• Laboratory experience preferred but not required.
• Keyboarding or data experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and provide respectful customer service.
• Collect blood specimens following venipuncture procedures.
• Support technologists by preparing reagents and maintaining instruments.
• Identify instrument malfunctions and inform appropriate staff.
• Perform departmental clerical duties such as inventory and phones.
• Troubleshoot issues and resolve problems promptly.
• Other duties as assigned.
