Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center in Clyde, NC seeks a Histology Assistant for a part-time position in our 24/7 clinical laboratory. You will handle specimen receipt, slide preparation, and coordination with the Pathology team to support accurate diagnostic services.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED (associate or bachelor’s preferred), BLS within 30 days, and 6 months to 1 year of histology or lab experience. Join us in delivering high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; associate/bachelor's preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
• 6 months to 1 year experience in Histology or laboratory settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive specimens from surgery and log receipt with complete demographics and billing info.
• File surgical slides accurately and promptly.
• Retrieve slides and blocks from permanent storage as requested by Pathologist.
• Stain and cover slips to produce quality slides for Cytology and Histology.
