Job summary

Shriners Children's is seeking a Health Information Management Specialist to ensure accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of patient health information across our facilities in the U.S. This role supports regulatory compliance and efficient information flow within the medical records department.

You will maintain HIPAA-compliant release of information, perform quality checks, manage EMR accessibility, and coordinate with physicians and staff to resolve deficiencies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• 1 Year Customer Service experience required.
• Associate/Bachelor in Health Information Management preferred.
• 1 Year Healthcare experience in medical records processing operation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of patient health information.
• Ensures HIPAA compliance for release of information and authorizations.
• Performs quality checks on records before printing, copying, faxing or uploading.
• Manages scanning/importing requests for EMR accessibility.
• Processes information requests from paper, microfiche, electronic storage, or offsite locations.
• Tracks deficiencies, verifies data, and prepares reports on patient statistics.
• Assists in answering department calls and directing inquiries.
• Handles complaints and provides solutions to customer issues.
