Job summary

Qualifications

• RHIT or RHIA certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and validates release of information requests according to policies and HIPAA guidelines.
• Scans and enters requests into the information release database.
• Determines records to be released by reviewing requester information per HIPAA guidelines.
• Coordinates with departments and off-site vendors to obtain necessary portions of the medical record.
• Processes approved requests while maintaining privacy and compliance against unauthorized disclosures.
• Assists with walk-in customers, faxes, mail, and phone inquiries.

Education
