- Medical terminology class completion
Experience/Skills
- Medical Records experience
- Knowledge of office operations
- Types approximately 30 CWPM
- Knowledge of filing systems
- Familiar with the use office equipment
- Adapts to changes in procedures and/or workload

ROUTINE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Consistently complies with established Behavioral Expectations
Quality
- Scans paper Inpatient (IN), Observation (INO), and Same Day Care (SDC) records into the information system and accurately assigns ID for each form according to work standards
- Reviews all electronic charts for quality, e.g., legibility, completeness, etc.
- Scans all loose papers sent to the department after initial processing has been completed
- Processes requests for release of information according to hospital policies
- Maintains tickler file of orders that have been mailed for signatures to ensure safe and timely return of original medical record documents
- Processes requests for release of information according to the hospital’s policy
- Assists patients with the Health Portal via phone or in person
- Maintains confidentiality according to Sullivan County Community Hospital and HIM Department policies
Quantity
- Scans paper IN, INO, and SDC records into the information system daily according to work standards
- Documents incomplete charts for signature and/or dictation so letters can be mailed weekly
