Qualifications

General Description

The Health Information Management (HIM) Tech is responsible to compile, process, and maintain medical record systems in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal and regulatory requirements of the health care system.

• Process Obituaries
• Assist with portal questions
• Internal and external customer service
• Medical record analysis
• Release of Information
• Document indexing and scanning
• Adhere and support WCH policy, procedures and practices
• All other duties as assigned

Other (Non-Essential) Job Duties

• Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned
• Performs specific work duties and projects assigned by the Manager and/or Lead Tech
• Assist in compiling of statistical and quality data or review
• Participate in the implementation of new systems as they occur

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Two or more years of previous related experience
• Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations
• Basic computer knowledge

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

The position is mainly sedentary in nature but may include standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; must be able to stand/walk for up to 70% of the work day; must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions.
