Qualifications

• 1 year of general medical record experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to uphold HIPAA privacy regulations and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer service support and processes requests for patient information in compliance with policies, HIPAA, and regulations.
• Prioritize release of information requests, retrieve records, and track delivery per procedures.
• Process requests with accuracy, handle STAT requests, issue timely letters, and document actions.
• Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and confidentiality of releases.
• Handle all requests via mail, fax, phone or in-person while verifying legal rights to access information.
• Ensure the requester has a legal right to request patient information.
• Provide attentive, respectful customer service and resolve issues professionally.
• Coordinate with outside vendor copier service to ensure records are available by deposition date.
• Analyze patient information for compliance with standards and index/scanning quality; correct errors by rescanning.
• Collaborate with departmental leaders to promptly research and resolve issues.
