Job summary

Optum Insight in Santa Maria, CA seeks a Manager of Health Information Management to lead facility HIM operations and staff, ensuring accurate, timely health information management and compliant processes.

The role drives improvements, strengthens client relationships, and oversees service quality, financial and operational metrics, with coaching for leaders and staff while fostering a patient-centric culture.

Qualifications

• RHIT or RHIA certification or active enrollment in an HIM program progressing to certification.
• 2+ years leadership experience in Health Information Management or healthcare operations.
• 2+ years monitoring operational performance measures, quality outcomes, or service-level commitments.
• 1+ years coaching employees and delivering performance feedback.
• 1+ years using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint professionally.
• Local to Santa Maria, CA and onsite 5 days/week.
• Driver's License and access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop facility supervisors and HIM staff to achieve service, quality, productivity, and financial goals.
• Monitor performance against client and KPI/SLA commitments; develop corrective action plans when results fall below target.
• Ensure accurate and timely patient health information workflows through audits and quality assurance activities.
• Lead customer and client experience improvement initiatives with measurable interventions.
• Provide facility-level oversight for HIM and related revenue cycle performance improvement processes.
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures that improve operational efficiency and support regulatory compliance.
• Interview, select, onboard, schedule, engage, and develop employees while promoting retention and cost-effective staffing.
• Collaborate with clients, physicians, clinics, employees, and cross-functional departments; conduct regular meetings to share information and provide performance feedback.
• Manage assigned personnel, budgets, and resources and prepare reports using accurate, statistically sound information.
• Lead special projects by developing work plans, coordinating resources, tracking milestones, and communicating results.
