Qualifications

• Health Information Management degree and RHIA or RHIT credential preferred.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations and statutes.
• Excellent written and oral communication and grammar skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with time constraints.
• Must be able to spend 95% of the work shift stationary and using a computer.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate HIM functions and review resident medical records.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and privacy protections across information access.
• Oversee the release of medical records and documentation.
• Certify copies of records and respond to information requests per laws.
• Maintain storage, retention, and destruction systems for health records (paper and electronic).
• Assist with policy development and training related to health information management.
