Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System seeks a Records Imaging Clerk to retrieve, prepare, and index patient charts and death certifications in accordance with state regulations. This role supports the HIM department and ensures high-quality scanning and filing.

Responsibilities include preparing charts for scanning, indexing to correct CSN, reviewing images for quality, processing death certificates, and assisting with Release of Information.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing document imaging in a hospital medical records department.
• Preferred: experience in quality analysis or similar position.

Responsibilities

• Prepares charts for scanning and indexing according to HIM guidelines.
• Reviews images scanned for accuracy and rescans as needed.
• Indexes documents to the correct CSN and document type; handles splits and merges as required.
• Reviews daily electronic work lists to ensure timely processing of items.
• Validates and submits death certificates per state regulations; coordinates with physicians and funeral homes.
• Performs Release of Information processing tasks as needed.
• Maintains productivity and quality; submits weekly reports.
• Communicates issues to the Team Leader and assists in training new staff.
