Job summary

Universal Health Services seeks an HIM Specialist for the Atlantic Region Central Billing Office (ARCBO). The role involves reviewing and prepping medical records for scanning, indexing documents, and performing QA to ensure accuracy against discharge lists and census data.

Responsibilities include preparing charts, batch processing, documenting errors, and ensuring proper encounter coding. Candidates should have healthcare experience and strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years healthcare experience preferred.
• 1-3 years medical records experience preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Customer-focused with attention to detail, strong written and oral communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Reviews the paper medical chart and prepares it for the scanning process.
• Confirms medical documents have correct patient information, correct barcode stickers and are separated and batched properly for maximum productivity.
• Reconciles the paper charts prepped with the hospital discharge list and hospital census to verify receipt of all prepped charts and creation of the electronic chart.
• Scans batches of both medical records and/or loose pages to create or update the electronic chart.
• Manually indexes non standard documents to the correct encounter and document type.
• Determines the readiness of the documents for the QC process.
• Reviews the electronic medical record for verification against the paper record.
• Performs quality control and corrects any errors that occurred during the preparation, scanning and indexing of the medical charts.
• Generates error log and forwards to supervisor daily.
• Other duties as assigned
