Qualifications

• Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2+ years of hospital experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong computer skills and experience with electronic health record systems (EHR).
• Experience with Excel is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares Medical Records for release to regulatory and other requestors.
• Prepares Medical Records for insurance audits requiring data analysis and review.
• Collaborates with the HIM supervisor on data entry or processing projects.
• Revises admit and discharge dates when necessary.
• Works with the EMPI team on chart correction.
• Processes cancelled cases and addresses room and bed charges.
• Coordinates Master Patient Index corrections (merges).
• Prepares records for performance improvement studies and committees, meeting deadlines.
• Ensures timely SPARCS submission and coordinates corrections.
• Willingly accepts additional assignments and supports safety and quality culture.
