Job summary

e4health is seeking a HIM Scanning & Indexing Analyst to support health information management workflows, ensuring accurate scanning, indexing, and availability of records across patient charts.

The ideal candidate has hands-on HIM scanning/ indexing experience in a hospital or health system, with Cerner experience preferred and a keen eye for detail. The role emphasizes HIPAA compliance and collaboration with HIM, clinical, and IT teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with HIM scanning and indexing is required.
• Experience in a hospital or health system HIM environment.
• Understanding of medical record document types and indexing standards.
• Experience with document quality control and resolving indexing errors.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to process high volumes.

Responsibilities

• Perform and support scanning, indexing, and document management within the HIM department.
• Accurately scan paper and electronic documents into the EMR.
• Index documents using patient identifiers, types, encounter info, dates, and metadata.
• Perform quality assurance to ensure legibility, completeness, and correct patient association.
• Identify and resolve scanning, indexing, and document-quality issues.
• Research and correct misfiled, duplicate, or incomplete documentation.
• Collaborate with HIM staff and clinical/IT teams to resolve record issues.
• Follow HIPAA and organizational privacy and security requirements.
• Support backlog reduction, reconciliation, and remediation activities.
