Job summary

McDonough District Hospital is seeking a Director of Health Information Management & Coding to lead onsite HIM and coding operations, ensure accurate documentation, and support regulatory readiness. The role coordinates with Revenue Cycle, clinical leaders, and Compliance to improve claims, reimbursement, and patient care quality.

The position requires a professional coding certification (AHIMA/AAPC) and an associate degree in HIM or related field, plus several years of supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Active, nationally recognized medical coding certification (AHIMA or AAPC) required.
• Associate degree in Health Information Management, healthcare administration, or related field, or equivalent leadership experience.
• Experience in hospital HIM and/or facility coding preferred.
• Supervisory or management experience with accountability for workflow.

Responsibilities

• Oversee HIM and coding operations to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Promote clinical documentation integrity and proper facility coding.
• Collaborate with Revenue Cycle, clinical leaders, and Compliance to support timely claims and reimbursement.
• Lead staff development and vendor management within HIM scope.
