Job summary

Nexus Health Systems seeks a strategic Director of Health Information Management (HIM) and Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) to lead HIM and CDI functions across the organization from Houston. You will oversee daily operations, staff development, and standardized policies to ensure accurate documentation and compliant reimbursement.

You will collaborate with Utilization Review, Case Management, Coding, Billing, and IT to improve DNFB metrics, support audits, and drive revenue-cycle

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management required.
• RHIA or RHIT credential strongly preferred.
• CDI or coding certification (CCDS/CDIP/CCS/CPC) preferred.
• Progressive leadership experience in HIM, CDI, coding, revenue cycle, or related healthcare function.
• Experience overseeing HIM operations in a multi-facility environment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA, release of information, and record-retention requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for HIM and CDI functions across Nexus Health Systems.
• Direct daily HIM operations including medical record completion, deficiency management, release of information, and coding support.
• Lead HIM staff development, scheduling, workload distribution, and performance expectations.
• Establish standardized policies, workflows, and quality measures; oversee escalation procedures.
• Act as HIM subject-matter expert for documentation integrity, disclosure, coding support, and information governance.
• Identify workflow improvements to enhance productivity and revenue cycle performance.
• Lead CDI program with concurrent and retrospective reviews; educate providers on documentation requirements and coding implications.
• Develop a closed-loop process across HIM/CDI, Utilization Review, Case Management, Coding, and Billing.
