Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking an experienced xIL/SIL/HIL/MiL Simulation Engineer to support scalable virtual validation for automotive programs. You will work across MiL/SiL/HiL/ViL frameworks, toolchains, restbus simulation, and automation to accelerate validation and integration of ECU models and software.

The ideal candidate has hands-on automotive simulation experience, cross-functional collaboration skills, and proficiency in Python, MATLAB, CAPL, and Git.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field is required.
  • 4+ years in automotive simulation, embedded systems, software testing or validation.
  • Hands-on with xIL, SIL, MIL, or HiL and experience in virtual validation.
  • Proficient in Python, CAPL, MATLAB or similar scripting tools.
  • Familiar with Git or other version control systems.
  • Experience with restbus simulation or automotive network simulation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance xIL (MiL/SiL/HiL/ViL) simulation frameworks.
  • Integrate simulation models, tools, ECUs/vECUs, and testing platforms.
  • Improve framework performance, reliability, and scalability.

We are seeking an HIL/SIL Simulation Engineer/ xIL Simulation & Automation Engineer to support the development and deployment of scalable virtual validation capabilities for automotive vehicle programs.

The engineer will work on xIL (MiL/SiL/HiL/ViL) frameworks, simulation toolchains, test automation, restbus simulation, and virtual validation environments. The role will focus on integrating simulation tools, automating test workflows, improving simulation capabilities, and supporting the adoption of standardized virtual validation solutions.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with automotive simulation and testing environments and be comfortable working across software, hardware, models, and vehicle systems.

Key Responsibilities
xIL Framework & Simulation
  • Develop and enhance xIL (MiL/SiL/HiL/ViL) simulation frameworks.
  • Support the development of modular and reusable simulation architectures.
  • Integrate simulation models, tools, ECUs/vECUs, and testing platforms.
  • Improve simulation framework performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Develop reusable automation and simulation components.
Simulation Toolchain & Automation
  • Integrate and configure automotive simulation and testing tools.
  • Develop automated workflows for simulation and test execution.
  • Support simulation orchestration and test automation.
  • Integrate simulation environments with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support automated execution of large‑scale simulation and validation activities.
  • Develop scripts and utilities to improve simulation efficiency and reduce manual testing.
  • Support simulation data collection, processing, and analysis.
Restbus Simulation
  • Develop and maintain restbus simulation environments.
  • Create and configure network simulation models for missing or simulated ECUs.
  • Work with automotive communication protocols including:
  • CAN / CAN FD
  • Automotive Ethernet
  • LIN
  • FlexRay
  • Develop reusable libraries for signal, timing, and communication behavior.
  • Troubleshoot communication and system integration issues.
Integration & Validation
  • Work with software, systems, vECU, plant modeling, and validation teams.
  • Integrate models and software components into simulation environments.
  • Support SIL/HIL testing and virtual validation activities.
  • Analyze simulation and test results to identify issues and performance gaps.
  • Support debugging and root‑cause analysis of complex system integration issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of simulation and testing processes.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Software, Architecture, Integration, and Validation teams.
  • Support deployment and adoption of standardized simulation solutions.
  • Document simulation frameworks, automation processes, and technical solutions.
  • Participate in technical reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
  • Support project planning, issue resolution, and technical prioritization.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 4+ years of experience in automotive simulation, embedded systems, software testing, validation, or related engineering areas.

  • Experience with Python, CAPL, MATLAB, or similar programming/scripting tools.
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Automotive OEM or Tier‑1 experience.
  • Hands‑on experience with:

  • Familiarity with Linux and embedded systems.
  • Experience integrating simulation environments into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience working with simulation models, artifacts, and test data.
