Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a part-time Group Exercise Instructor for the Oak Square YMCA location. You will lead engaging, safe group classes, welcome all fitness levels, and foster community within the class setting.

You will maintain current wellness knowledge, build member relationships, and tailor sessions to varied abilities and cultural needs while supporting YMCA goals and activities.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in a group exercise setting.
• NCCA accredited certification (ACE, AFFA, NASM, NSCA, ISSA, etc.).
• Current certification for a specific group exercise format (Yoga, Spin, Body Pump/Body Combat).
• Experience in health and wellness programming and group instruction.
• Understanding of internal and external marketing and special events.

Responsibilities

• Leads energizing, safe, and educational group classes as directed by supervisor.
• Answers questions from participants to support health and well-being goals.
• Maintains knowledge of wellness trends through courses and training.
• Builds authentic relationships with members and helps connect them with the YMCA.
• Observes and adjusts classes for varied health and cultural needs.
• Celebrates participant achievements and progress.
• Keeps accurate class attendance using the online system (MotionVibe).
• Follows YMCA policies and responds to emergencies.
