Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky is seeking a Highway Technician I in Covington, KY. The role involves operating dump trucks with snow plows, various road maintenance equipment, and performing inspections to ensure compliance with plans and specs.

The position requires 4 years of highway maintenance experience or approved education substitutions, a valid driver's license and Class A CDL with tanker endorsement, and completion of a required academy within one year. 40 hr/wk with possible overtime.

Qualifications

• High school graduate required.
• Must have four years of construction or highway maintenance experience.
• College substitutions available for experience per guidelines (2–4 years substituted by degrees).

Responsibilities

• Operates dump truck with snow plow and salt spreader.
• Operates intermediate equipment (asphalt distributors, backhoes, loaders).
• Performs rolling of hot mix and drainage installations.
• Learns to operate advanced equipment (bulldozers, cranes, excavators, graders, lowboys, milling machines).
• Acts as quality assurance inspector for pipe laying, earthwork, asphalt laying and guardrail installation.
