Qualifications

• High school graduate.
• Two years of construction or highway maintenance experience.
• Associate degree in engineering technology or related field can substitute for two years of experience.
• Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE.
• Must be 18 years of age with a valid driver's license and Class B CDL.
• Must complete KYTC Highway Technician Academy Level 1 within one year.
• Maintain required licensure/certifications for duration of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate dump trucks with snow plow and salt spreader in winter.
• Operate intermediate equipment (asphalt distributors, backhoes, loaders, etc.).
• Flag for traffic control as needed.
• Act as quality assurance inspector for pipe laying, earthwork, asphalt and guardrail installation.
• Perform basic surveying activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
