Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an entry-level rodman for a preconstruction survey crew. Under supervision, you will establish line and grade for highways and provide field information to design detailed plans.

You will proficiently operate level rods, prism poles, and basic survey equipment, collect topography, and maintain field notes. Valid driver's license required; high school diploma or equivalent with 1 year related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year related experience.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preconstruction survey duties as rodman and establish line and grade for proposed highways.
• Operate level rod to determine elevations and provide alignment data.
• Maintain field notes including profiles, cross sections, and topography.
• Assist with and operate basic survey equipment and safety practices in the field.
• Conduct courthouse and field research to locate property lines and corners under SC licensed surveyor guidance.
