Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) invites applications for a District Sign Specialist 1 or 2 in District 04 Traffic Operations. The role performs sign installation, replacement, and maintenance on state and federal highways, following MUTCD and DOTD manuals.

The position requires working in all weather and may require afterhours emergency shifts. Candidates must possess a Class D Chauffeur's License, be able to lift up to 40 pounds, and be prepared to set up road

Qualifications

• No experience or training is required.
• Must possess Class D Chauffeur's License.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Willing to perform afterhours duties and emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Performs sign installation, replacement, and maintenance on state and federal highways.
• Determines sign placement based on field conditions and regulatory orders.
• Maintains daily work orders and tracks inventory using PDA and GPS data.
• Obtains training listed in PPM# 59 and other required training.
• Assist in setting up and closing roads for repairs and emergencies.
