The Ohio Department of Public Safety is seeking a Highway Patrol Electronic Technician 3 responsible for overseeing and maintaining various electronic systems in highway patrol facilities. Location: 1583 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus 43209 (Franklin County)
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm. On call 24/7.
Responsibilities include overseeing, directing, supervising, and performing building, modification, installation, repair, maintenance, and testing of electronic equipment such as radio transmitters/receivers, radar units, BAC computers, video and recording equipment, security systems, power units, intercoms, emergency lights, VoIP systems, telephone systems, and peripheral equipment in highway patrol facilities and vehicles.
Additional duties involve testing network connectivity, configuring mobile data computers, supervising district electronic systems deployment, maintaining inventory, designing electronic systems, acting as liaison for communication equipment, installing software, ensuring FCC compliance, training personnel, managing schedules, maintaining records, supporting other agencies, and making equipment recommendations.
Qualifications include a two-year technical program in electronics or related field with 36 months of relevant experience, or an associate's degree with similar experience, or equivalent qualifications. Travel may be required, with a valid driver’s license necessary.
