Job summary

State of Indiana, through INDOT, seeks an Engineer Trainee to support planning, design, and research for transportation projects. A PE license is preferred; candidates with an Engineer-in-Training or FE certification actively pursuing full licensure are considered.

The position requires a civil engineering background, a valid driver's license, and familiarity with DOT standards. The role offers growth within INDOT's Traffic Management Division and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

Registered professional engineer license in Indiana preferred.
Engineer-in-Training or Fundamentals of Engineering pursuing licensure in Indiana considered.
Valid Driver's License required.
Extensive knowledge of civil engineering theories, methods, and design standards.
Familiarity with AASHTO/IDM/IMUTCD standards and DOT procedures.

Responsibilities

Plan and manage proposal development, milestones, and resource use.
Coordinate division/department programs and ensure feasibility of plans.
Assist in road projects design, research plans, and technology initiatives.
Organize and review engineering investigations and field observations.
Analyze engineering data and develop technical guidelines and training materials.
Assist in laboratory testing related to materials/bridge/traffic research.
Participate in Quality Control/Quality Assurance programs to ensure compliance.
