Schedule: Mon-Fri – 7:00AM – 3:30PM

SUMMARY

The City of Chicopee's Department of Public Works - Highway Division is hiring a Highway Maintenance Worker who is responsible for maintaining roadways, sidewalks, lawns, trees, drains, sewer lines, and public infrastructures such as buildings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Perform construction maintenance work on streets, sidewalks, tree belts and other public property.
• Perform excavation, bracing, sheet piling, and grading.
• Fill potholes and cave-ins.
• Maintain, clean, and construct sewers, catch basins, drains, and manholes.
• Actively participate in snow and ice removal operations.
• Perform "Flag" duties at job sites on occasion.
• Erect manholes and catch basins.
• Lay sewer pipe and house waste connections.
• May assist in Forestry operations as needed.
• Operate air compressor and jackhammer.
• Perform general labor duties as required.
• Drive highway maintenance vehicles and complete daily vehicle maintenance logs.
• Abide by City of Chicopee Health and Safety policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Massachusetts Class B CDL License – Required
• Massachusetts Class A CDL License – Required (must be obtained within one (1) year of hire).
• Willingness to perform heavy manual labor.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
