Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation’s Hugo yard is seeking a Highway Maintenance Specialist to perform snow plowing, operate heavy equipment, repair guardrails, set traffic signs, and keep roadways clear in all weather conditions.

This role requires a Colorado CDL (Class A or B), physical stamina for outdoor work, and the ability to work on-call and overtime. You will join a team responsible for safety, reliability, and timely responses to emergencies along Colorado highways.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License Class A or B with no restriction on air brakes.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow
• Operate heavy equipment such as tandem dump trucks, loaders, tractors
• Mow grass and weeds, remove debris from roadways
• Repair guardrails, highway markers, signs, and lighting
• Fill potholes and cracks, set traffic signs and cones
• Maintain equipment and perform minor repairs
• Work on-call rotating shifts and respond to emergencies
