Qualifications

  • Washington State CDL Class B license (no airbrake restrictions) with N endorsement and current medical card is required prior to employment.
  • At or above Highway Maintenance Worker 2 level: demonstrated roadway maintenance, construction, heavy equipment operation, and related experience.
  • Ability to obtain Washington State Pesticide Applicator license within 12 months; training assistance provided by WSDOT.

Responsibilities

  • Operate highway maintenance equipment (Class A/B/C) and perform routine upkeep of roadways and structures.
  • Maintain drainage, erosion control, and vegetation; perform sign and guardrail maintenance.
  • Respond to emergency calls, include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Assist with safety planning, PASP development, and compliance with MSDS handling requirements.
  • Work outdoors in variable weather, on active roadways, with exposure to high traffic.
