Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a maintenance worker to support repairs and preservation of roads and bridges on the state highway system. Under supervision, you will perform a wide range of manual tasks and operate standard and heavy equipment as required.

Responsibilities include traffic control, equipment inspection, and assistance during inclement weather or emergencies, with lifting up to 50 lbs and the potential for extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Attainment of a Class A CDL within six months of placement is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintenance of roads and bridges on the state highway system.
• Operate dump trucks and other heavy equipment as assigned.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and assist in emergency weather operations.
• Flag traffic and ensure safety of workers and the public.
