Job summary

The Georgia Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled Highway Maintenance Technician 2 to join Area 1 in Gainesville, GA. Under broad supervision you will operate equipment, perform maintenance on state highways and rights-of-way, and assist with traffic control and emergency repairs.

You will use hand and power tools, conduct preventative maintenance, and support planning and documentation of routine activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and six months of experience.
• Possession of a valid Class B CDL.
• MSD Level 1-2 completed.
• Proficient knowledge of maintenance activities in the area of assignment.
• Traffic control duties including flagging operation.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment for highway maintenance and rights-of-way.
• Use hand and power tools to complete tasks.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment/vehicles.
• Conduct traffic control duties including flagging.
• Respond to emergency maintenance needs outside normal hours.
