Job summary

The South Dakota Department of Transportation in Deadwood is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker to keep state highways safe and drivable. Eligible applicants may receive a $2,500 hiring incentive. A valid driver license is required and a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment or heavy construction is preferred.
• Must have or obtain a valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within 120 days.
• Candidate must be willing to work in all weather and shift conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway maintenance and roadside activities on state highways.
• Install/repair signs, traffic control devices, and pavement markings.
• Operate and maintain equipment; respond to emergencies and incidents.
• Provide on-the-job training and work direction to crew.
